Natural clay plaster provides a non-toxic, inexpensive, and beautiful finish on interior surfaces.  Clay plaster may also be used on well-protected exterior surfaces (or where maintenance is not a bad word).  Clay plasters are particularly well-suited finishes for strawbale walls, as they are breathable and durable.  The straw provides excellent surface area to ensure the plaster adheres well.  Thin skim-coats of clay plaster can also be applied to drywall and other surfaces.  Clay plasters do not create a moisture barrier, and actually provide the added benefit of moderating humidity in the air.
