Lotus Cottage

strawbale studio in Capon Bridge, WV

Yes...strawbale buildings can be curvy! Like this 625 SF studio. The large windows provide free solar heat in winter, warming the earthen floor and sculpted cob bathroom wall inside. The same windows are shaded in summer, keeping the inside naturally cool when you need it most.

This cottage was built over one summer, with workshops and tons of sweat equity from the owners.
