DeGraf Home

strawbale home near Harpers Ferry, WV

This passive solar, strawbale home was built almost entirely by the owners...who had little previous construction experience. The beauty of building naturally with strawbale, cob, and cordwood is precisely this empowerment. A masonry heater keeps their 3 bedroom, 1,780 SF home warm with very little wood in winter and their living roof keeps the inside nice and cool in summer.
